Judo was created as a Physical, Mental and Moral Pedagogy by Jigaro Kano in the year 1882. A modern martial art, today Judo has evolved as an Olympic Sport and is practised by Judokas (Judo Practitioners) across the globe.
Judo is most commonly recognised by the throws and takedown which the practitioners do to pin down an opponent to the ground using submission, force, lock or a choke. Strikes although a part of Judo as art is not allowed in the Judo competitions.
Judo gives an important edge in MMA as well, as it gives the practitioner the knowledge of taking down an opponent or avoiding a takedown, several MMA champions today are from a Judo background and have then honed other skills as well.
